The Letter of Paul to the Ephesians (part 0 of 155)

The title of this post suggests an ambitious project. I am going to try to do something a little different with the blog over the next few months. I will still be working on my ordinary posts, but since I haven’t been able to complete them with the sort of frequency I would like, I want to do something else in addition, which will involve much more frequent posting.

I’ve had this project in mind for a little while. I was listening to a talk by NT Wright, in which he suggested a method for memorizing scripture. Essentially it amounted to focusing on one verse a day, and meditating deeply not just on the words, but on the meaning, on really thinking deeply each day about what just one sentence of scripture means. And he suggested it would be good for the Church as a whole if everyone could learn by heart the book of Ephesians.

As one who is prone to begin ambitious projects and never finish them, let me say right away that I already tried this one, earlier in the summer, and failed. But I hope to resurrect it, so to speak, by posting my thoughts each day in this blog. I will try to do so primarily in the morning, however I fear I will never get started if I require this of myself. So part 1 is to come shortly.
